Access to Services

Patients for whom Access/ Communication is difficult

If you struggle to walk into the front door of the surgery, or use a wheelchair, please come to the back door (next to the car park) and ring the bell for access. Please also ask to be seen in a downstairs room (you can arrange this when you book this appointment if you wish).

If you are deaf or hard of hearing, please book appointments by coming to reception or emailing the reception email address.

If you are visually impaired please ask reception for assistance if you need help safely moving around the building or accessing written information.

If English is not your first language, we can organise translators. If you come to reception they can help you book an appointment with the help of a translator on the phone.

All patients over 75 years old will be offered a face to face appointment when they call.

All new patients will be offered a New Patient appointment with our Practice nurse when they register.

Carers

Please let us know if you are a carer for one of our patients.

If the patient is able to give written permission, you will be able to speak to us on their behalf.

You may also wish to provide copies Power of Attorney forms so these can be documented on the patients notes.

If you are one of our patients and you are a carer, we would love to be able to support you in this role. Please let us know if you are a carer and how we can help.

Allowing others to speak on your behalf

If you would like to allow a trusted person(s) to speak on your behalf, please fill in the form below and bring it to reception yourself.

Allowing others to speak on your behalf

Parents

Once your child is over 14, they are assumed to be able to communicate with the clinician on their own and to this end, parents need the child’s consent to communicate on their behalf. Reception will explain this to you when you book appointments.

If you are Housebound

Please phone to request a home visit if you are unable to leave your house. Home Visits should be requested before 11.30 where possible. If you call after this time the visit might be deferred to the following day where safe. Visits are provided by the visiting team from BB Healthcare.

Phone calls and Face to Face Appointments

Our receptionists will book your appointment as per our policy. Those conditions which cannot be managed safely on the phone will be booked for face-to-face consultation. If the receptionist books a phone call but the GP feels they need to see you face to face they will arrange this with you.

Cancelling Appointments

Please call reception if you cannot make your appointment or if you are going to be late so other arrangements can be made.

Getting to the Surgery

The surgery has very limited parking. Please take this into account when planning your journey to the surgery and use the Wetherspoons, Town Centre, or Waitrose Car Parks as needed. Our Clinicians may not see you if you turn up more than 10 minutes late.

Please do not leave your car in the car park after visiting the surgery if you need to do more than pick up your prescription. This makes it difficult for others to access the building.
